TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Nov 7, 2009 750 mL bottle at St. Veronus. Dark ruby brown with a two-finger beige head. Aroma is quite spicy, with some caramel, prunes, and candi-sugar. The flavour was deliciously spicy as well, with all the aromas continuing into the flavour and balancing nicely. Some bitterness at the end seemed to be hop rather than alcohol based. The alcohol is actually very well hidden. Excellent beer. cyrenaica (435), Milton, Ontario, Canada Nov 2, 2009 750ml bottle

I tried this beer on September 24, 2009 at "The beerbistro" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured out a murky brown colour with reddish hues and a thin white head. The aroma was malt, yeast, and plenty of dark fruit tones like plums. The mouthful was fulkl-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was plums and licorice with a hint of hoppy bitterness. An excellent beer. ChrisThomson (374), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 24, 2009 750ml bottle. My bottle may have been a bit off, but I was not hugely impressed. Pours hazy dark brown with frothy tan head. Great aromas of plums, yeast and spice. Flavour is complex, with dark fruits, toffee sweetnes, with creamy body. Lingering bitterness in the finish not too enjoyable. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 23, 2009 Small gusher upon opening the chilled bottle. Dark, nutty toffee aromas. Flavor is just perfectly lightly sweet with roasted hazelnut notes. Vivid carbonation and fine bubbles coat the tongue. This is stellar. gam (1059), brisbane, Australia Oct 18, 2009 Big frothy biege head a dark ruby red plum like pour, aroma dark fruit yeast wine cherry spice, plum, flavour yeast raisin, port wine, liccorice, bitter very smooth,a nice tangy fizz, sweetness, plum, prune, creamy note candy, strong flavours throughout, delicious Bruin, good caramel flavour, finish smooth but strong flavours a creamy touch, bitter fizz. BeerChaser0078 (280), Melbourne, Australia Oct 2, 2009 Bottle. A real gusher which poured dark copper with a beige head that lasts well. Aroma is a nice combination of sweet and sour notes: ripe berries (raspberries, blueberries), malt, dark fruits (raisins, prunes), blackcurrant and toffee. Flavour goes along similar lines although the sweetness is kept well in check by the more bitter notes as well as the addition of some subtle vinous notes into the mix. Light to medium body but with a long dry finish and the alcohol very well hidden, this is a very well constructed, well balanced quad that can hold its own with the best of them. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Sep 23, 2009 750 ml bottle from a KW group private order. pours clear garnet with a small tan head and minimal carbonation. aroma of dark belgian malt and candied sugar with a touch of yeast. the flavour startswith some dark malt and then there is a delicious candy middle, then finish is sweet but rounded. its out standing soft in the mouth, almost delicate. its super easy to drink and all around is a very enjoyable brew. douglas88 (1555), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 22, 2009 750 ml bottle thanks to kryptic shared with a few friends. A bit of a gusher, and drank pretty much room temperature. Pours a deep brown color with a thick beige head. The aroma is lots of yeast, fruits and sweet candies. The flavor is rich and impressive; loads of yeast and sweet Belgian candies, lots of fruit, prunes and plum, a nice creamy mouthfeel. Quite drinkable. Nice.
