Flavour is more enjoyable with a good mix of caramel, but also some citrussy freshness. Quite spicy, yet well-balanced sweetness. Medium body, hiding well its strength. Nice. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2009 Bottle that I picked up from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Flanders early March 09, consumed 04-05-09 Pours brwon in colour, touch murky with a light beige head. Aroma is of dark sticky fruits, bit figgy and prunes, touch of yeast and some candy sugar. Taste is warming, a little too sweet, dark sticky fruits show again, some silky milky chocolate, nice maltiness and a little nutty. This is a very nice beer but to be honest not quite as good as I had anticipated. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6 TampaBrew (823), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Bottle (Best buy 1/2009. Perhaps a bit past it’s prime) Pours a rusty brown/amber- good effervescence with a large bubbly tan head. Very elegant aroma- soft Belgian yeast with some musty phenols- some cocoa, rich yet soft toffee from dark Belgian malts and a touch of dates. Fluffy carbonation covers a slick and warming body. The flavor gives off some cocoa and date sweetness- however, it’s soft and not astringent like some Quads. It does have some warming alcohol (only in the feel, not the flavor) Perhaps some raisin and fig with a gritty dark malt note on the back. Well crafted and a good example, however, it falls short of the top examples of Quads (Rochefort, Westy).
