Commercial Description:
ACME CALIFORNIA BROWN ALE is creamy smooth after the style made famous in the north of England. It's toasty with hints of cherry and black currant. Acme Brown is brewed according to tradition with high dried and brown malt, and lightly finished with the Noble hops Tettnang and Hallertauer. The result is a very drinkable beer that can be enjoyed for an entire evening.

Brown with a slight orange tinge and a sweet, yeasty yet malty aroma. Nice malty flavors. It’s more sweet than nutty. Smooth with a heavy molasses note in the slighly bitter finish. Overall, a very drinkable beer.

Slightly citrus/pine and malt aroma with a strange soapy thing happening. Toasted malt flavor with a bitter nut finish. Slight citrus. Strange. Body is quite smooth.

Color is light brown, with a small tannish head. Aroma of some caramel and light hops, not really potent. Flavor is sweet, caramel, touch of bitterness in the finish, somewhat watery. Had better.

Dark brown color with medium sized light tan head. Very nutty taste with hints of caramel chocolate and yeast. No real hop taste and not too swet. Very good brown. I love North Coast.

On tap at brewery...very nice brown, nutty and sweet, fullish medium body and very drinkable and balanced. One of the better browns I’ve had and one of their better beers.

Clear deep reddish brown with a medium quickly diminishing light brown head. Aroma of roast, toffee, brown sugar, hazelnut, and a hint of coffee. Medium watery body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Flavor of hazelnut, toffee, and bread with hints of coffee and spice. The flavor is good, but it seems to be confused and doesn't come together very well. Decent, but I can see why North Coast brews these under a different brand name.

Tap@North Coast. Brown sugar with some roasted malt, grainy again, and a bit short. Have to say, i don’t really like there ’Acme’ range of beers.
