Commercial Description:
ACME CALIFORNIA BROWN ALE is creamy smooth after the style made famous in the north of England. It's toasty with hints of cherry and black currant. Acme Brown is brewed according to tradition with high dried and brown malt, and lightly finished with the Noble hops Tettnang and Hallertauer. The result is a very drinkable beer that can be enjoyed for an entire evening.

Average looking brown ale with a cloudy brown coloring and a small cream colored head. Sweet caramel malt aroma, with a bit of currant in the background. The mouthfeel is rather thin. The entire flavor is rather mild - elements of nut, caramel, hops, and currant. Leaves a moderate bitterness on the tongue - more than I prefer in a brown ale.

With just a bit of fizz, this product of Wile E. Coyote's favorite company has full, complex flavor with a pleasant "carbony" finish and aftertaste.

This brew poured a small head of quickly disappearing bubbles and a carbonated cloudy brown body. It has a malt alcohol aroma with some noticable caramel. The mouthfeel is smooyth and finishes slightly tingly. Its alcohol contnet is well hidden behind its big brown beer flavor that contains notes of spice and caramel.

Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium orange brown. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), light notes of brown sugar and diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Kinda sugary sweet, but some bitterness comes along in the end to make it palatable. Very basic aroma.

The head on this beer was tan, very small in size and it quickly dissipated. The body was carbonated and murky. The hue was the color of cider and there was very little lacing with this beer. The nose was that of alcohol as was the flavor. The mouthfeel was tingly on my tongue and it had a burning sensation as it was swallowed. It also was a thin beer.I did not really care for the taste of this beer.

Bottled. Browns to me are boring, but this one wasn't that bad. Tasted like a brown with a slight left coast hop bite.

Way too hoppy for the style. Nice nuttiness in the flavor, great color, but a little weak bodied and overly hopped. I like my brown ales malty and a bit bittersweet. In the same vein as Sierra Nevada's Borwn Ale.

Nice, sweet toffee and caramel aroma. Hazy rusty color. Moderately hoppy, nutty, some citrus fruit. Sweet, but edgy CO2 finish. Rerate I found the aroma very dry and almost unpleasant this go-round. The beer was spicy, briny and a bit metallic. Metallic has been the theme this evening with a lot of my beers. I was certainly not as impressed with this sample.
