Commercial Description:
ACME CALIFORNIA BROWN ALE is creamy smooth after the style made famous in the north of England. It's toasty with hints of cherry and black currant. Acme Brown is brewed according to tradition with high dried and brown malt, and lightly finished with the Noble hops Tettnang and Hallertauer. The result is a very drinkable beer that can be enjoyed for an entire evening.

Pours with a hazy, dark ruby color when held up to the light, otherwise it is a deep amber brown color. It is topped by a frothy, brown-tinged, tan colored head that quickly disappears to a wisp. Sweet caramelized malt notes great me up front, but quickly move to notes of toasted grain, nutty malt notes, and a touch of roasted grain character. There is some soft, yet sweet, fruit notes here as well; I get notes of figs and raisins that have been just lightly roasted.

The taste is lightly sweet, accentuating a fruitiness that again reminds me of figs, raisins and even a bit of sweet, concentrated plums. The finish has a nice low, at least relatively, hop bitterness to it as well as some lightly roasted grain astringency. This is definitely a light, quaffable brew. It does linger on in the finish though; remaining fruity, plus a touch bitter, and a definite notes of toasted grain.

Quite a nice easy drinking beer, again it is not aggressively flavored, but the flavors it does have are well integrated and make for a pleasing session brew.

Bottle. Roasty malt aromas. Caramel, chocolate, nut flavors are a good mix. Nice and refreshing.

Pours a clear not very dark brown color with a head that exists. Roasted malts and a bit of chocolate in the aroma. Chocolate and caramel in the aroma with maybe a hint of tart fruit. It’s a brown ale.

Lots of toasted malty tones and some caramels, hints of chocolate, nuttiness, even a bit of hops. Lots of flavor present in this brown ale, very refreshing taste.

Bottle poured a clear redish brown with a lasting amber head. Aromas of cocoa, toasted malt and toffee. Palate was light bodied. Flavors of toasted nuts, cocoa and carmel with a crisp sweet finish.

Pours out a dark brown with a foamy intricate head. Is slightly cloudy in appearance. The smell is creamy and malty. Taste is a crisp and creamy brown that rests well on the palate and coats all the way down.

Creamy and smooth is a good description. This chocolatey tasting brown is very good. The Hops seem to make themselves more present than with most browns. Meshes in nicely with the brown malt.

Pours dark amber/brown with a thin, off-white head. The aroma is caramel, cinnamon toast, milk chocolate. The flavor caramel, light citrus, some roast. Medium/light body.
