I would describe it as a India Pale Lager as there is the yeast notes are that of a lager. Metallic, thin, yet still too bitter at the same time. A average beer, but a poor IPA. Aroma of light pine hops and toasted caramel malt. Flavor is much the same, with the hops barely beating out the malt. Nothing really amazing here, just a fairly standard 6 pack IPA. Aroma is kind of weak but sweet yeast and hops stand out. The flavor is strong with wheat or bread, not much hops here at all. It does have a dry finish, but not what I have come to expect and love with an IPA. If this beer wasn’t labeled as an IPA, it would be pretty good. Being it is, I am disappointed in it. Maybe I just had a bad bottle. redlight (1499), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Pours cloudy golden pale with a thick white head. Assertive bitterness right away with sweet malts following, bready with hints of citrus with a dry bitterness, finishes alittle sweet with a sticky mouthfeel. A good session IPA. Slightly hoppy nose at the front, with some sweet aromas too. In many ways, though, the hop qualities are very understated, certainly more so than the commercial description would have you believe. Somewhat bready and malty, in fact, though there’s enough hops to avoid a syrupy quality and the finish is dry enough to please. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Grapefruit, orange, floral hops in the nose along with an underlying sweet biscuity malt. Clear deep golden body is topped by a low but lasting, fine bubbled, white head that leaves fine lacing on the sides of the glass. Strong bitterness is balanced by supporting sweet malts. Pine and grapefruit hop flavours are apparent. Bitterness lingers and is a bit harsh in the aftertaste. Dry medium body with moderately prickly carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Bottleworks, Aug-08).
