| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 2, 2005 Hazy amber body, absolutely no head. Aroma isn’t like most IPAs - not very hoppy at all. Light hops with alcohol. Flavor was bitter of course, but also citrusy(?) and hints of caramel. Overall was a pretty lame IPA. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 29, 2005 bottle. Pours orange with thin white head with a few bubbles. Aroma is sweet with a little piney/citus hop aroma....but definitely not hoppy smelling for an IPA. Definitely a lot of maltiness for an IPA. I’m wondering if I got a bad bottle as I am not getting the citrus and grapefruit taste that I read in some of the other reviews. This tastes like a pretty timid IPA to me. A little bit of bitterness in the finish, but once again pretty mild. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2005 bottle. pours a slightly cloudy, bright orange body with a large frothy white head. lace sheets also. powerful grapefruit aroma and there is actually quite a bit of sweet malt in this right from the start. the sharp piney hops up front are great - there is certainly a load of citrus and orangey flavours. sweet and yeasty with some alcohol. the finish is ridiculously long and bitter. not entirely balanced but nonetheless, I enjoyed it. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2005 12 oz bottle. The label on my bottle was different than the one shown here. Pours a hazy orange with virtually no head. Typical citrus/grapefruit aroma. Flavor is loaded with citrus, almost like carbonated grapefruit juice. Not too shabby... | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2005 12oz bottle via trade with jzzbassman - Thanks Monte! - Pours golden with a pretty nice white foamy head that stays well and laces pretty good too. Aroma is of pine and citrus. Flavor is mostly dominated by those same citrus and pine bitter hops but there is a little caramel flavor and a touch of bread that comes through in the flavor as well. Seems fairly unbalanced though on the hop side. I enjoyed it though. Beaver (598), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 29, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden orange with a soapy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is grassy hops, a little bready malt and quite a bit of DMS. Floral hops come out as it warms.
The flavor is fruity (melon) and toasted malts follwed by an earthy floral hoppiness. It has a big lingering bitter aftertaste. Skunky Canadian beer burps. It’s medium bodied and lightly carbonated, a little watery.
Overall, a pretty pedestrian IPA. It’s pretty unbalanced and just doesn’t do much for me.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 29, 2005 Updated: Dec 27, 2007This used to be one of my favorite IPA’s. Then I started really getting into them, and after coming back to this one, I realize this stuff tastes like bile. Yes, that stomach acid sourness that you get when carsick. Say, from driving on the road that connects 101 and 1 through Mendocino County. North Coast has many good beers, but this, I now realize, is not one of them. swebri (16), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Very light amber color with a white head. Aroma hops are almost non exsistant. Bittering hops over power the fruity malt. Tastes more like a xtra bitter pale ale than an IPA.
