SDbruboy (1821), San Diego, California, USA May 24, 2003 The Acme name is an apt one for this Pale Ale - serviceable, reliable but not outstanding. Light amber color with a small white head that dissipated quickly to a ring of of tiny bubbles around the edge of the glass leaving little lacing. Aroma is moderate malt with predominant floral hops and a hint of lemon. Nice mouthfeel, creamy and medium body with soft carbonation. Average to long hoppy finish with an intriguing metallic acidity. Indeed a "session" beer as the description claims.
jhliesen (350), West Melbourne, Florida, USA Sep 7, 2008 Bottle--Well, I wished I knew about the reviews ahead of drinking the beer. I was really expecting something special, but ended up being just mediocre. The color was amber with a short lasting head. Some hop aroma started the beer and the taste was of mild hops. mistersinalin (273), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Sep 5, 2008 North Coast makes Rasputin and this? I am surprised. At this price point I would expect a better beer. Very little aroma and not much hop character for a pale ale - sort of blah. joekfsu (120), Boardman, Ohio, USA Sep 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy orange with 2 cm of nearly white foamy head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma of citrus and bread. Initial taste is sweet with malt and citrus, but changes to a more balanced flavor with hops and bread flavors. Light body, not particularly having an alcohol presence, moderate lacing, and some aftertaste. Overall, doesn’t compare to the other beers in this category. tiggmtl (4181), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 21, 2008 Mild biscuity malts beneath orange citrus hops with some honey-like mustiness. Hazy golden body is topped by a low white head that recedes to a lasting cover. Pleasant biscuit malt flavour with moderate bitterness and peppery, spicy hop flavours. Quite dry medium body with moderate carbonation. Pretty middle of the road and certainly tame by California-style pale ale standards but still a very drinkable beer. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Bottleworks, Aug-08). glennmastrange (395), hobe sound, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. light to moderate malt notes of grain and cereal, moderate herb note for the hops, very light hint of sweat for the yeast, and background notes of allspice pepper and paper. Head is average sized, frothy, white with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is slightly hazy, yet sparkling, amber. Flavor starts moderately acidic and finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery almost creamy, and has a lively carbonation. It finishes lightly astringent. A fairly good Amreican Pale with one or two slightly off aspects.
