Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
A full bodied victorian style porter with hints of liquorice. The initial bitterness gives way to a smooth, mellow finish.

Cask conditioned at Coventry Beer Fest ’07. Black with ruby hue, pale head. Rich heavy malty beer with a fruity sweet acidic character. Heavy on the finish with licorice and coffee . A very good beer.

Cask @ Market Porter, London.
Pours a great, translucent black with a small, creamy, off-white head. Nice soft aroma, fine roastiness and chocolate. Low carbonation, good mouthfeel. Flavour has light coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Very dry finish. Very nice.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, RealAle05)
Almost black, healthy loose head. Chocolatey aroma, a bit sweet. Not sticky, in fact almost watery; refreshing. Beautiful well-balanced chocolatey taste, sweet roasted malts. Storming brew - best of the fest.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 25 April 2008) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of liquorice and freshly ground, heavily roasted coffee. Malty, roasted taste with fresh coffee, dark fruit, ashes, prunes, liquorice and a hint of smoke. Nice coffee bitterness in the finish. Rather dry for a porter. Medium body. This really is an excellent porter! More of this please.
