hughie (2415), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England May 11, 2008 Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Described as an American Single Hop Special. Dark gold. Spicy floral hop aroma. Painty taste. The finish is strongly bitter. Obviously trying to develop the taste for American style IPA’s, this had the locals here in the Shire coughing and spluttering. I rather liked it.
fonefan (5558), Ulfborg, Denmark Jun 5, 2008 Cask gravity @ Reading Beer Festival 2008.
Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dusty, moderate to light heavy buttery. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (010508) evilempire (118), sheffield, South Yorkshire, England May 15, 2008 another top beer from Acorn, the latest in their series of American hop IPAs. unfortunately not as hoppy as an American IPA - with the exception of the Sheps’ take on Stone IPA no-one in the UK seems to have the guts to try that - but is certainly a well-hopped, bitter ale with a long-lasting dry finish
