Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’08. Chestnut colour with white head. Good deep malty bitter, plenty of roasted malt notes, perhaps a little yeasty, not sure if it is a dead yeast note. However; it is dry so probably fully brewed out, good bittering finish. Enjoyable.

Cask/Gravity at The Swan Beer Festival, Islip 05-10-07 Poured a very dark amber some fruit, roasted notes and possible yeast on the nose. Initial taste reminds one more of a mild than a bitter but this slowly changes and a rather punchy bitter but still quite mild comes through. Nice lingering bitter finish, and a most enjoyable beer.

A Mes rate: Cask at Bar Fringe, Manchester. Almost black with a Guinness like head and plenty of lace. Roasted malt aroma. More roasted malt in the flavour with coffee, dark fruit and roasted nuts. Faint muskyness to it all round. Bittterish finish balances it out. Enjoyable.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Out Of The Vaults Leicester. A dark brown coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma is malty and a little roasty with some coffee notes. The taste is dry and fruity with more coffee. Another tasty drinkable beer from Acorn.

Cask@The Market Porter, Borough, London. Quite a toasty malt character, slightly burnt, with some nutty characters, and wholemeal grain. Some citric hop tang in the finish, quite earthy. Not bad at all.
