Cask at The Butchers Arms, Herne: Dark orangey brown beer. Strong flavours of fruit and bread with a little maltiness. Very rich and tasty. Good beer but I could only drink a couple.

Red-ish brown half pint at local beer festival. Taste is bitter, quite fruity and loads of malt. Bitter after taste. Fairly average pint nothing special.

Nice strong heavy beer. Great with food and I think a very winter drink. Lots of flavor and depth to this. So much better than the bottle broadside.

[at the Ferry Inn, Southwold, Suffolk] Initially rich, malty, smooth - went down very easily. Aftertaste a little weak and watery, bitter but well balanced. Very pleasant. The draught version is weaker-tasting than the bottled version, and different flavours are apparent (notably malt rather than fruit). Both are good drinks, and I couldn’t actually recommend one over the other (I’d choose the draught year-roundwhen I was having a laugh with my mates, and the bottle in front of a fire on a cold winter’s day!), but I don’t know how Adnams can call them the same beer!

cask @ the nelson. Bang on middle of the range beer. Dark amber colour, little off white head. Malty nose. dough, wood and little caramel in the start and hops in the finish. nothing wrong nothing really good about it.

a bit like the 2eme or 3eme GC Bordeaux .... everything is perfectly balanced and smooth ... no rough edges no lumps and bumps ... if you are looking for a perfectly executed medium bodied fruity ale ... this might come close to your best bet ...

Nice head, beautiful velvety red colouration. Slightly watery but not a huge downpoint for me. Pleasing aroma, and a nice flavour. Solid bitter.
