Dark amber coloerd, medium sized yellow head. Sweet aroma with some apple and mild licorice. Medium bodied. Flavor is richly fruity and this licoricy-grainy here too with mild caramel. Aftertaste dries mildly with licorice.

Cask, steam railway, swindon. Dark amber lasting head. Aroma of muddy spice hops. cardboard feel but lovely cherry, dark berries deep estery flavours. Im not sure what yeast strain they use but almost belgian tasting. Alot different to the bottle i had a few years back.

Cask at The Globe, London. Dark brown colour. Tall head. Really nice bitter. Quite creamy and smooth. Nice hoppy and smokey taste. Some caramel too. Malty. Clean.

[681-20070925] Cask @ Eagle & Child (Oxford, OX). Syrupy leafy sweet aroma with a bit of earth and soy sauce. Clear, amber orange body with quick white bubbles. Sweet ham meat and leafy flavours. Medium body is watery and has a hint of bitterness. Perhaps a little over-rated here.

Cask at Sawyers Arms in London, near Paddington Station. Cascading dark amber pour with an off white creamy and retentive head. Beautiful appearance. Medium bodied, but with some slight wateriness to the texture. Initial flavor has a blend of toffee and caramel, with just a hint of nuts. This is countered by a soft spicy and herbal hop middle. Smooth finish. Probably my second favorite of this visit to London.

Cask at The Greyhound, London - came with a thin but frothy white cap. Appearance is a clear ruby brown. Left very nice lace in the glass. Aroma of ripe fruit (apple), some nuts, floral hops and malt. Dry, earthy hop flavour, with fruit and some caramel malt, finishes lightly bitter. Very sessionable ale, very soft palette.

Nose of malt, cream and fruit. Pours a deep copper. Tste is malty and fruity. Soft mouthfeel. Nice bitter finish. good beer but annoyingly colonising all the guest ale pumps in London!
