Cask at Seven Star, London. Pours redish amber with a small white head. Nose is malty. Taste is malty and fruity. Earthy and bitter in the end. Very drinkable

Pint @ The Bridge House. Darkish brown body, small head. Nothing that distictive in the flavour - hops, rotten apples, some flowery sweetness - but still a good pint. Very smooth and paletable. Dark sugar? Nice pint.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2007). Well-balanced bitterness and graininess, with a light apple feel. A bit watery in places, perhaps. Marzipan nose.

Cask conditioned at the Ratepayers’ Arms, Filton 4/5/2007. Brown coloured with reddish tones. Aromas of dark fruits and demerara sugar. Flavours were reminiscent of rich fruit cake with a decent, dry finish. Overall, an enjoyable pint.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London 27 Apr 2007) Dark brown, almost mahogany, colour with brief off-white head. Malty nose with dark fruit, orange peel, hints of chocolate and notes of earthy hops. Fruity taste with a solid malt foundation, dark fruit, red berries (raspberries, cherries), hints of chocolate and a generous puff of earthy hops in the finish. A reliable pint indeed.

A Mes rate: Cask (obviously) at some random boozer just off Oxford St. Bit of an old faithful. Yup, I know it probably shouldn’t be but I’m happy with it almost every time. Nothing to say that hasn’t already been documented. A reliable back up plan on many occasions.

Cask at Ye Old Mitre. Malty aroma. Dark amber color with a passing beige head. Starts slightly fruity, followed by malt, a hint of belgian candy. There is hop in the finish, but the malt tends to keep pace. Satisfying.
