[500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Reading] 9/3/2008: Coffee, dundee cake, a well balanced bitterness. Not huge depth, but a pleasant drink - this is how dark English beer should taste (but with a killer strength in this the bottled version!). Leaves a nice warm fuzzy glow! Re-rate 31/12/2008: As above, with some orange, spice and plenty of malt too. Very slight carbonation is about right for the style. Still felt more drunk on this than on other 6% beers for some reason!

50 cL bottle. Deep amber/brown, hazy and with a lacing tan head. Dense malt and fruit aroma. Flavour starts fruity and sweet. Goes into a spiced malt/hops dense flavour followed by a more bitterhops flavour. Spiced finish.

Bottle at Smokeless Joe 500 ml
Appearance: Pours as clean, darker shade of amber with premium, thick tanned top.
Nose : Fresh, soft hop character , light fruit side with twig , sweet malts add aromas balance.
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied ale , top clean bitter British hops , light brown with some earthy side. Alcohol strong was well build into formula. Sadly midlle of palate was a bit flat. Dough malt with hint of rye paired with bitter hop coat of alcohol.

A good UK beer representative. The aroma contains the malt and the hops and it is acceptable. Very drinkable, clean and refreshing lovely biitterness. At Smokeless.

Pours dark brown with big off-white head. Lots of lacings. Molasses, dry bitter hops, good mouthfeel. Overall a good low carbonation British Ale.

Reddish brown with a dense and beautiful head. Bitter berry-like aroma and explosive flavours of nuts, chocoalte, caramel, toffee, black currants and cherries. Nice bitter ending and overall a lovely strong ale. .

Complex mixture of competing flavours and textures. Beautifully put together. Got better as it warmed up. Good beer.
