a dirt brown color to it. large eggshell head to top it off. a nice nutty sweet brown sugar vibe to the aroma. Has a wheat bran feel to the body along with some dried dark fruits mainly raisons. Very smooth and nice.

Nose is very, very subtle. Hints of yeasty malt. Colour is dark but thin with a weak head. Mouthfeel is also thin, with some nice dark notes of chocolate and aniseeed, but mainly a bit astringent and sour with a too sharp finish. Maybe I had a bad bottle, but I can’t agree with the consensus on this one.

Bottle 04/09/2003 Amber red in colour with some alcohol present. Considerably stronger than it’s cask counterpart. Fruitiness and lots of malt in the finish.

A dark red beer. The tan head floats on top of the beer as a thin layer of foam until the end of the beer. The aromas has carmel and hops. Very nice flavor with dried fruit, sweet malt, and a very good, light sour taste. The finish is lightly bitter hops balanced by the malt. Not especially strong, but still a very good beer.

Big malt aroma, some treacle, cloudy pomegrante, small firm tan head, lovely lace. Rich malt taste, butterscotch, caramel, hops and pitfruits. Full bodied, complex, very well balanced, bitter and quite warming. Wonderful!

White medium, lasting head. Ruby colour. Aroma with malt and hops. Flavour: Smoky malt and hops with some sweetness - small notes of chocolate. Rather watery palate. Bitter medium long finish.
