"Adnams Explorer is a light and refreshing blonde beer, with some citrus notes and grapefruit aromas. Fantastic served chilled. Adnams Explorer captures the spirit of discovery by blending Chinook and Columbus hops from the New World. The best in traditional brewing with a contemporary edge."

Bottle. (RBNAG 07) A clear, yellow-golden beer topped by a decent, off-white head. Nice fruity hoppiness in the aroma, along with pale malts. The flavor is fruity, with a malty sweetness to balance the bitterness. The fruityness and bitterness is present in the finish as well, but slightly subdued. Medium body. A pleasant, quaffable beer. Bottle. Pretty bad.Weedy aroma, palate is thiin, metallic, with some sort of lactic sweetness. Feels very stale in the aroma and on the palate, very stale as well. NOt good at all.

550ml bottle BB 26 June 2007, whoops. Citrus hops on the nose, ripe stonefruitiness, some nice biscuity malt backing it up. Pours a hazy looking pale amber body with some offwhite lace. Slightly flat body to it, clingy texture. Marmalade citrus flavours at the forefront, slightly sweet, overly ripe apricot fruitiness, nice bit of tang to it with some underlying nutty biscuit malt. Finishes a tad sweet with a moderate lingering bitter note. Blonde beer? What’s the deal with that? A decent bitter nonetheless.

A bright golden amber is the body, the fine carbonation is thick and heavy as it rises towards dense, half inch pad of white. Head holds and daubs menacing rings of white down the glass. Aroma is tinny, reminiscent more of P.O.R hops than Chinook or Columbus. Dull note of sodden cardboard doesn’t help much. Slight tangerine taste too it up first. Caramelised sugars and burnt orange juice mingle, some toasted malt breathes in heavy. Carbonation is very light so the body builds and gets a bit heavy. Vine-clipping like bite to the swallow, a happy median is found bitterness-wise to balance it. Finish is rather short, a little fruit tanginess and bitter hops in there, all on the low-down. Not much more, though it is all in check and goes down with ease I can’t see this as much of much at all. The aroma, or lack of, is a let down, and the flavour needs to be pimped up to make it more exciting. But atleast it looks good in the pint.
I’m not much for butchered pasteurised and filtered British beers. (50cL, 22/08/07, Jandakot Liquor)
