wheresthepath (210), Buckinghamshire, England May 16, 2008 [500ml bottle from brewery shop] Shared with Dave. Slightly darker than I expected from the "blond beer" description. No head at all; medium carbonation, exactly right for the style. Strong citrus (grapefruit and lemon) balanced with a refreshing bitterness. Still the Adnams malty flavour here though - tastes like a Broadside mixed with Hooegarden! A top notch beer when you’re thirsty, this also goes very well with spicy food. This is one of my favourite English ales, and I often go back to it. johndoughty (1580), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Jan 29, 2006 Blonde with a high hop presence. Some bitterness although not pronounced.Lingering slightly citric aftertaste. Perhaps not very adventurous but refreshing and pleasant. bozoNZ (360), Christchurch, New Zealand Feb 29, 2008 Uni Staff Club Tasting 29/01/08 Light amber golden, good head. Nice sweet citrus nose. Mandarin pith flavours a touch on the sweet side. nice beer GregClow (2318), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 Bottle sample at Toronto’s Festival of Beer 2008. Clear deep golden with a good sized white head. Aroma is very nice, with notes of citrus and tropical fruit. Soft mouthfeel. Flavour is fresh and zesty, with citric hops sitting on a solid malt backbone. Nice and summery, very enjoyable. rauchbier (2870), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Sep 17, 2005 Bottle, courtesy of John White. Copper gold, thin shortlived white head and gentle condition. Initial toffee maltiness and buterscotch, some earthy hoppiness and developing fruitiness that has hints of peach and honey. Full bodied in the mouth, quite chewy with plenty of sweet toffee malt and fruit. Solid hop notes contribute more fruitiness and a developing bitterness that also has some slightly burnt malt characteristics. Finish is quite long with hints of toffee and fruity hops.
