Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - mid October to end February. Not on the brew schedule for 2006, so current status uncertain.
An easy drinking traditional style ale. Clean and refreshing yet dark and mysterious, Fisherman is a deep coppery red, conjuring up roasted nuts and dark chocolate, with a lingering taste of liquorice and dried fruits.

[Cask at Charlies Bar, Copenhagen] A deep red beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of berries, while the flavor has strong notes of nuts and some notes of cowberries as well as caramel, on a sweet malty background, leading to a dry slightly bitter end.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Nut brown. Sweet and very roasty, light-medium bodied, and slightly bold malt character. Surrisingly somewhat vinous. Grassy finish with good bitterness.

Brown color; thin layer of creamy foam. Not too much aromatic, but has a very good velvety body, with some malt and a lot of caramel; a soft bitter, pleasant.

Cask@The Roebuck, Richmond, London. Some nice flavours come through, mainly anise and toffee. Lightly sweet to start with a dry finish, some light roast and acidity towards the finish. Its OK, but lacks depth of flavour.

Dark ruby colour. Uses rye in the mash. Malt is the dominant feature of this beer. Nutty overtones. Sweetish finish. I certainly wouldn't describe it as "clean and refreshing", nor would I expect a winter ale to be. In fact, I'm not entirely clear what Adnams are aiming at with this beer - a red "autumn" style or a "winter old" style. It seems to fall between two stools. Not bad, but nothing special. Handpump, The Cherry Tree, Woodbridge, October 2003.
