Brewed with a German top fermenting yeast, Munich and Pilsner malts and hopped with Spalt hops. This beer is fermented at a high temperature and then lagered to allow the beer to mellow and condition.

Cask Stillage from the Outside Marquee at the Prince Of Wales, Foxfield 07/11/2009 Hoppy aroma. Clear golden coloured hoppy and floral with a slightly acidic taste. Slightly dry and creamy malt finish.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Merchants Inn Rugby. A hazy and headless orange coloured beer. The aroma is sweet and has peach notes. The taste is a bit floral and a bit yeasty. Fairy insipid to be honest with strange fruit notes.. Not good.

17 Oct 2009. Cask@The Lord Nelson Southwold, Pale Gold with a white head,Aroma of spice/fruit,Plenty of malt flavour from the Munich and Pilsner malts used.A hint of dry bitterness,Leading to a pleasant fruity finish from the Spalt hops used. A decent drinkable cask lager.

Cask at Southwark Tavern. OK, forget that this is supposed to be a Kolsch. Having been to Koln, this isn’t even close. But as a golden ale, it is pretty decent. Gold, thin white head. Drinkable enough for a light tasting beer with some ok yeast character, some odd peach fruit on the flavour. Good as a beer, but not as a Kolsch.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold with a white head. Gentle slightly spicy aroma and taste with a hoppy finish. Pleasant but rather pointless.

Cask conditioned at The Cherry Tree, Peterborough. Pale gold with white head. Perfumey, floral, difficult drinking, I’m no expert on Kolsch, but I never had anything like this in Cologne. Not very good.

Coach & Horses, Greenwich. Drinkable cask lager - quite dry. Unexciting. British hops - perhaps Bramling Cross.
