bhensonb (4182), Woodland, California, USA May 24, 2008 Cask at the Market Porter. Light fruit and citrus? aromas. Tarnished gold color with a frothy white head. A bit less than medium body with smooth carbonation. Swear there’s ginger in it. Finishes lightly sweet, not quite balanced by the ginger? spice. Some kind of hottish spice - pepper? Good. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 11, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at The Wenlock. Lovely golden blonde with a good white head and excellent condition. Wheat, straw and hops with a slight sweetness. Bitter finish. Promises much in the beginning, delivers little in the end. hughie (3016), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England May 19, 2007 Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small white head. Hoppy aroma with some pear. Taste is slightly astringent, though not unpleasantly so. I struggled to find the right simile. Flint? Gunmetal? Ash? Oil? None of these is quite right. Bitter finish. Fair, but it will not become my favourite Adnams beer. detroitsteel (231), Greater London, England May 16, 2007 Pint @ Bridge House, SE1. Light golden body, small head. Very hoppy and dry. Fruitness in the hops and some sort of tar - ish flavour; very intense and spicy. All in all a good pint. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Feb 1, 2007 Dark golden with a small white head. Tiny floral hop aroma. Bitter and dry flavour with a hint of caramel sweetness, and long lasting bitterness. StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Mar 6, 2006 A light, golden, almost lager coloured beer, with a thickish white head. A light hoppy aroma, with hints of sweet malty caramel. The taste is also of dry hops, and a citrusy flavour that does not detract from the beers balanced palate. The finish is slightly dry, but not unpleasant. (Draught - The Lifeboat, Thornham, Norfolk). Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England May 7, 2004 Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London. Pale golden, probably yellow, slight white head. Bright and attractive to look at. Rather bland pale malt aroma. With a distinct lack of flavour the alcohol is all that’s left to shine through. Adnams is a fine brewery and I was very excited to see a new pale ale on but unfortunately this didn’t meet my expectations. Adnams please try again.
