chriso (4667), London, Greater London, England Sep 27, 2009 Cask (handpump) at the Bridge House, Tower Bridge, February 2007. Black with a reddish tinge. No head, just a thin collar of beige foam. Chocolate and modest roast malt aroma. Dry on the palate with a roasted, burnt malt feel. Less chocolate. Slight salty edge. Clean, light mouthfeel. Perfectly OK but lacks a little impact - overall impression is dry, roasted and light.
MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Jul 5, 2009 A Mes rate. Cask handpull at the Market Porter. Black body with a reasonable beige head. Decent roasty stout with plenty of dark malt and some faint chocolate. Odd note of seaweed in the dry finish. Standard fayre, nothing special. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Apr 25, 2009 (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 17 Apr 2009) Pitch black colour with foamy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee and ashes. Roasted, malty taste with coffee (espresso), dark chocolate and a hint of liquorice and sweetness in the roasted (almost burnt) and salty finish. Rather light body. Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Apr 24, 2009 Cask again in that place in old street i cant remember. Alround rating: Roasty bitterness, lots of black malts, not too much going on. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Apr 1, 2009 Cask at Cambridge Blue. Nearly black beer with a bit of froth on top. Lovely mocha nose, dark chocolate and espresso notes. Maybe a bit light in the ass, lightly bitter with more roast in the aftertaste than in the flavor, but highly drinkable. bobinlondon (786), Harrow, Greater London, England Mar 5, 2009 Handpulled cask at Dartford WMC.
