wheresthepath (226), Buckinghamshire, England May 16, 2008 [on tap at the Red Lion, Southwold] A thin brown head quickly dissipates, leaving the usual stout flavours of coffee and chocolate. The aftertaste and mouthfeel is oddly reminiscent of flat coca cola. Overall impression was that it was a bit thin and watery compared to other stouts, and the flavours are rather muted. Not bad, but a dissappointment compared to Adnams’ other brews. Ethereal (894), London, Greater London, England Mar 25, 2008 Cask at the Brewery Tap with renffisch. Black with a small tan head. Salty smelling with a bit of kiwi fruit too. The oyster element is very evident in the flavour and there’s even a slight seaweed taste. The palate has a creamy element but there’s a slightly plasticky component though. Interesting stuff. renffisch (406), london, Greater London, England Mar 20, 2008 pint @ the tap in wim village. Almost black in colour with a quickly disappearing head. Germinated cereal and banana bouquet. Tastes pretty watery with hints of wet paper and a bit of wet old harbour plank thrown in. StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Mar 6, 2006 A dark, almost black beer, with a strong coffee brown head. A bittersweet malty nose with a toasted nuttiness. The taste is also of butter sweet malt, plus a hint of liquorice and hops. The body is medium for such a beer and the aftertaste is smooth and rounded. (Draught - Darby’s, Swanton Morley, Norfolk). mik82 (34), England Sep 29, 2005 Bottled. Pours black with light tan head. Nice roasty, chocolatey stout. Low strength not noticeable.
