A decent light summer ale, with some sweet malt and a little hops. Better than the average score would suggest. SilkTork (4173), Rochester, Kent, England

Nutty fruitiness up front, a touch of toffee in the middle, and a gentle flowery hop finish. A nicely balanced and clean beer, though there are murky edges. Slight toffee in the aroma. A pleasant start to the fest while waiting for the boys to arrive. chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England

The usual gold colour for a summer ale. The second surprise, and a not altogether welcome one, was the distinct initial whiff of sulphur on the nose. Once that had dissipated, some soft hoppy freshness came through, but not very strongly. The palate was cleanish, and hoppy, with a touch of malt too, but mainly soft, as was the finish. For my money, this is a bit heavy on malt and light on crispness for a quaffer. Not one of the better summer ales on this showing, but perfectly pleasant and dependable. Fragrantly hoppy and creamy but not much depth to the flavour. Highly rinkable but there are better summer beers RobBestwick (555), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England
