Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - December. No longer available in bottle.
The original winter warmer, Tally-Ho is actually a barley wine brewed to a nineteenth century recipe. It’s sweet; it’s heart-warming; it’s rich - but watch out, it’s got a kick like a drayman’s horse!

cask pbf’05 Very nice Christmas beer. Did drink it in the summer... at the Peterborough Beer Festival. Sweet beer, but nice balance with dark fruits and malts. Also clearly alcohol present. I would realy like to have some of this beer in a cask during Christmass!

I had this right after Christmas so my memory is foggy at best. I remember it was a barley wine and that it was pretty good. It was on tap too. Other than that...

At Nicholsons in Cincinnati. Medium fizzy tan head with sparse lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, no visible carbonation, transparent, and a reddish brown hue. Malty, sweet, raisins and wine in the nose. Sweet, malty, chocolate, alcohol, toffee, and raisin flavor. Smooth and dry mouthfeel. Light body.

Snifter on cask at American Flatbread, Burlington VT. No head, dark and nearly opaque raisin-molasses tinted still body...lots of chocolate, raisins, and a bit of rum in the malty, toasty, nearly hop-free nose...winey, caramel-dominated body, prunes and raisins and a dash of pepper...somewhat light-bodied, dryish, with a slightly bitter, earthy finish.

Cask @ Buckeye, 4-02-05. Hazy mahagony brown color, no head. Has a fruitiness (green and dark fruits) and some grape. Somewhat bitter finish.

Pours hazy murky brown. Looks thin. Very wine like aroma and flavor and not much more going on. Bottle dated best before 11-97. Scores fairly well for a 5% BW this old.

Cask - no carbonation - highly sweet aroma, plums and grapes in the mix - flavors of figs, prunes, raisins - a near cloying sweetness isn’t balanced well enough by the minor hop bitterness - alcohol is very pronouced.
