Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - December. No longer available in bottle.
The original winter warmer, Tally-Ho is actually a barley wine brewed to a nineteenth century recipe. It’s sweet; it’s heart-warming; it’s rich - but watch out, it’s got a kick like a drayman’s horse!

(Cask-conditioned at Akkurat, stockholm, Sweden) Clear, dark ruby brown colour. Thick long lasting tan head. Rish malty aroma of light chocolate, figs, pear, butter with acidic undertones of raspberries and wood. Malty flavour of black chocolate and toffee with delicate vinous undertones of black cherries and raspberries. Long, woody finish with notes of herbal hops and tart raspberries. Quite good stuff!

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Very dark brown. Rich on butterscotch from aroma to finish. Full bodied and solidly malty with soft mouthfeel. Not too sweet. Salty finish with licorice and balanced bitterness. Warming and thoroughly pleasant, albeit not overly complex.

A rare find on draught in London. Deep chestnut colour. Very rich and fruity. A real festival of fruit, in fact. Raisins, stewed prunes, licorice, treacle toffee and fruit cake. A bit on the sweet side, without much hops presence to cut through, but very nice in modest quantities. I imagine it could become rather sickly and cloying. Cask (handpump), The Bridge House, Tower Bridge.

Cask conditioned - Handpump - Bridge House Tower Bridge London (RB London Xmas Crawl 2004). A very dark beer with aromas of raisins and Christmas cake. The taste is also Christmassy with hints of brandy alcohol. Lots of very nice fruity malt tastes. A good beer. Best of the Day.

2008-12-09, gravity dispense at The Bree Louise, London, 7.8%, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Dark mahogany color, almost black; flat. Light caramel aroma. Good body strength, strong caramel flavor, with dark chocolate tones, that become quite strong towards the end, as well as the bitterness; there are also roasted nuts at the end. Reasonable Strong Ale (not sweet enough to be a Barley Wine), a bit too much roasted for me.

Brown color. Simple aroma. Very good body, malty, with a lot of caramel and some chocolate. Bold final.

Draught. Dark red/brown, white head. Sweet and rich. Fairly assertive alcoholic taste. Plummy, raisiny. A decent beer, nothing special though.
