Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - December. No longer available in bottle.
The original winter warmer, Tally-Ho is actually a barley wine brewed to a nineteenth century recipe. It’s sweet; it’s heart-warming; it’s rich - but watch out, it’s got a kick like a drayman’s horse!

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy deep red beer with a small orange head. The aroma is light with notes of berries. The flavor is lovely sweet malty with notes of caramel, alcohol, and oranges, and with a dry woody end. Nice one.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Very dark brown. Rich on butterscotch from aroma to finish. Full bodied and solidly malty with soft mouthfeel. Not too sweet. Salty finish with licorice and balanced bitterness. Warming and thoroughly pleasant, albeit not overly complex.

2008-12-09, gravity dispense at The Bree Louise, London, 7.8%, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Dark mahogany color, almost black; flat. Light caramel aroma. Good body strength, strong caramel flavor, with dark chocolate tones, that become quite strong towards the end, as well as the bitterness; there are also roasted nuts at the end. Reasonable Strong Ale (not sweet enough to be a Barley Wine), a bit too much roasted for me.

2005-12-03, cask conditioned at Charlie’s Pub, Copenhagen, 6-3-8-4-14=35

Brown color. Simple aroma. Very good body, malty, with a lot of caramel and some chocolate. Bold final.
