Snifter on cask at American Flatbread, Burlington VT. No head, dark and nearly opaque raisin-molasses tinted still body...lots of chocolate, raisins, and a bit of rum in the malty, toasty, nearly hop-free nose...winey, caramel-dominated body, prunes and raisins and a dash of pepper...somewhat light-bodied, dryish, with a slightly bitter, earthy finish.

Jan 27, 2008 Cask (handpump) @ Wellington, Birmingham B2, UK. Clear medium to dark red brown color with a small, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, roasted, caramel, cold coffee, dark fruits ala, raisin / plum, light light licorice. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. (100108)

Jan 6, 2008 Cask @ The Florence, Herne Hill. Ruby colour with no head. Aroma is alcohol / plums / dark fruits / caramel. Taste is warming / alcohol / fruits / toffee. Nice complex Barley Wine, very enjoyable.

Lovely ruby beer, dried fruit like prunes or raisins. Sweet, warming alcohol. Quite nice, but some bitterness would not have hurt.

Nov 22, 2007 Cask at The Wenlock, october 07, 05 vintage. Turbid, opaque, brown color and a small beige rim. Caramel, crystal malts aroma. Woody, complex, flavor with some alcohol burn and a sweet flavor. Heavy. Medium to heavy palate, persistante woody flavor. Nice, complex but a bit clumsy strong old ale.
