Not very aromatic. Some hop bitterness. Not very flavorful. Slightly dry finish. JMerritt (1323), Macomb, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 19, 2005 Sampled at Brew Ha Ha 2005. Orange with a big, frothy head. Aroma of peat, straw, hay and peach blossoms. Rather grainy flavor (barley, wheat) intermixed with a decent amount of sweet cookie. Bittermess comes off as being herbally, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but doesn’t quite meld well with everything else going on here. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 12, 2005 Bottle. pours a light amber with a small head. Aroma has a citrus lime and hoppy twang. Stuff is almost tasteless, with just som maltiness and a low carbonation. Ad much as I try to get into this beer, I just don’t get it. Low carbonation makes me think this ha to be better on cask. pivnizub (5096), Bochum, Porúří, Germany
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 12, 2005 Bottle: Amber coloured, thin, steady, fluffy head, a bit lacing; herbal, hoppy nose, a tinge of "medicine" with distinctive fruity overtones (plums); quite dry fruity-bitter taste; distinctive herbal-hoppy finish; quite light bodied and low carbonated. A pleasant example. Aubrey (2781), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2005 Light brown; lasting but low head. Medium body. Nice balance. Notes of bitter orange, sweetened lemon, sour toffee, and distant cocoa. Even in its weight, it seemed refreshing, and it was rather drinkable. Dryish finish was accompanied by a little nip of alcohol, and it made me want to drink another sip. Nice level of lingering bitterness. Overall, the beer didn’t jump out at me with complexity, but it’s a solid, well-made beer that kept my attention. Firemoose15 (542), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Out of a bottle. Aroma sweet malts and hops. Poured a darker clouded amber nice off white head. Flavor was even between malts and hops, then gives way to the bitter hops. Palate was medium and bubbly. Overall not bad at all. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Updated: Apr 4, 2009I’m starting to really dig what this house does. Light brown, almost tending to copper. Thin head lingers. Bouquet and taste show remarkable consistency – dry, minerally, talcium powder, dusty dry hops. Some more obvious old fashioned malty notes kick in late. Very similar in style and flavour of Marston’s Pedigree. Good stuff. hokiebeerguy (21), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 4, 2005 This is one of the best bitter I’ve found. Good flavor, but still very smooth for a bitter.
