| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 20, 2004 Let me just start by saying I really like the bottle design, and the label shape complements it well. That’s not factored into my rating, but it is an appealing product on the shelf. It probably factored into my decision to buy it. Anyway, it pours an attractive lightly hazy red-tinted amber. The aroma is lively with light fruits, some grassy and peppery hops, also hinting at a smoky tobacco leaf. Palate is medium and very smooth, with fruity malts giving way to earthy and peppery notes. Very smooth, very drinkable, with alot of character. I could drink a ton of this stuff, and would love to just have a cask of it sitting around. 5000 (2634), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 17, 2004 Bottle pours a very slightly hazy caramel, small fluffy white head, strong carbonation of tiny bubbles, with attractive lacing. Light malts on the nose, even lighter malts on the tongue. Minor hint of pears or apples. Slightly bitter on finish. Good body and mouthfeel. I liked this much better than the Broadside.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2004 Caramel-amber with sticky, foamy head. Pungent caramel, dirty aroma. Chestnut bitter leads, then settles into mellow caramel, then strikes back with sharp knife-edge bitter finish. Liberty (52), Stompwijk, Netherlands
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 3, 2004 Tasted from the bottle: nice light amber color. Nice beer, with a bitter finish. Not a lot of aroma hops though. The bitterness is long lasting and increasing. Also some sweetness and malt in the flavor. RichardWilding (190), London, Greater London, England

Copper-orange brown, small off-white head. Toffee-hop nose. Same is with flavor: good medium-bodied bitter base with sweetish tones. A bit flat but not bad at all. (6/3/6/3/12 3.0)
Re-rated, can
Amber color, big brown head. Oaky, mild hoppy aroma. Malty, quite sold for 4.5% beer, woody hoppy, dry finish. Good session bitter. (7/4/7/3/14 3.5) BigBilly (127), London W3 6PF, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2004 500ml brown bottle.Nice neck & body labels. Poured an inviying clear red amber with frothy gold head. Good lacing. Sweet malt aroma with hops coming through nicely. The nicest nose I’ve rayed for this style. Nicely balanced malt, dry hops, crisp bitter flavour. Medium bodied mouthfeel, a bit fizzy. Long bitter grapefruit finish ( I always seem to be saying this). I’m going to dare to try the canned version.
