| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 5, 2008 This is sharply bitter all the way through the beer. I realize this is a"bitter"style, but it at least needs to be a little less sharp. This has an almost chalky mouthfeel, with bitter citrus hops throughout, the maltiness had a slight honey sweetness but was very subtle. I did not enjoy drinking this at all. wheresthepath (551), Buckinghamshire, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 16, 2008 Updated: Dec 27, 2008[500ml bottle from brewery shop in Southwold] 9/3/2008 Shared with Dave. Initially very bitter, although this gradually grew easier on the palatte. Intensely dry and woody, with a slight hint of orange in the aftertaste. Overall though, this is an average best bitter, tending towards the watery side. The worst of the Adnams bottles, and rather a disappointment from such a great brewery.
Re-rate 4/12/2008: Adnams maltiness comes through well, but this is ruined by too-strong carbonation. A little bitterness but not nearly as bitter as I remember, a little woodiness, a little orange, but overall rather weak and watery. A drinkable, but very average bitter, and pretty disappointing to have this coming from one of my favourite brewers. The cask version is much better, and as is always the case with Adnams, very different to the bottled. mcc5468 (103), USA
