Cask at Wenlock Arms, London. Dark copper color with small creamy head. Sweetish, caramelly and malty aroma. Smooth and light bodied with very low carbonation. Malty-caramelly and grainy flavor with some fruitiness from esters and hops. Gets more bitter towards finish. Very basic cask ale.

Delightful dry hopped character brew, with delicate perfumed hoppy bitter notes. Nose; at its best should smell slightly of vomit, believe it or not. Has reputation of not travelling which is confirmed if you try some from the brewery tap in Southwold. Best place for a pint - The Lord Nelson (same town).

(Cask at Old Mitre, Hatton Garden, London 20 Apr 2006) Colour is amber/copper. Nose is malty and fruity with a hint of sewage. Taste is malty and fruity with apricots and mandarine, rather dry and bitter finish. Nice and rather complex. Always a reliable resort if nothing more exciting is available.

Pint pulled at The Cats Back in Wandsworth (London). A darkish amber with a thin with foamy head. Quite malty with a sourness taht is a little too strong. Light mouth feel though and reasonably easy to drink.

A mid brown-orange beer with a thickish white head. The nose is light with a slight hoppiness and a hint of malt. The taste is dry and bitter, with the hop and malt elements present again. The aftertaste is long and dry. (Draught - The Orange Tree, Thornham, Norfolk. [formerly The Kings Head]).
