Aroma of charred summer sausage, bacon, roasted burnt grain, and some hop aroma actually fights it way through all that. Smoky and robust taste, some deep crisp caramel notes, a little hops on the finish. Feels well balanced throughout. Drinking a glass of this felt like a meal in itself. juiceisloose (671), Windermere, Florida, USA

This one poured a rusty brown color with a medium off-white head that slowly receded leaving behind swirly lacing in the glass. The aroma was like a liquid campfire with hints of salted bacon and smoked sausage. The smoke wasn’t overpowering though like their other beers tend to be. A real earthy presence is picked up in the flavor with the hops along with some sweetness and smoked meat flavor all blended really well. This one is medium bodied with a smooth smokey finish and incredibly easy to drink. This is one great smoked beer. Davinci (296), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Pours a beautiful coppery amber color with big wonderfully long lasting head, lacing is very well established. Aroma is salty smoked almonds and beef jerky. There is a brief sweetish caramel note at the beginning of the taste for just a moment followed by a smooth and dominant smoky, beefy kick. The beeris smooth and incredibly easy to put back. A marvelous beverage. dchmela (1443), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Tap at Redlight, thanks Brent! Poured in a half liter mug. Pours out a reddish brown with a thick tan head. Big campfire smoke and fried bacon aroma and then, as it warms, more of the hops start to pop out. Smooth taste of smoky malt and hops, not overpowering, make this dangerously easy to drink. Really well balanced and delicious. Finish very clean with just a hint of smoke. I don’t really like smoked beers, but this was delicious and would have been great with some different cheeses. Beerlando (2341), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2008 #800. Draft at Redlight Redlight. I’m so thankful that I got to try this rarity at the best bar in the business, thanks Brent!
The pour yields a clear, dark, rusty brown amber with a foamy, cream colored head. Well retained, the foam slowly recedes, leaving thick sheets of lacing behind. The smokiness is softer than some of Aecht’s other products, yet still pervasive throughout each and every element. Notes of salted BBQ pork, dirt, earthy hops, and minerals are all drawn together by a binding Alderwood smoke. Caramelized malts lay the groundwork, adding sweetness, while the smoke level is soft enough to let the earthen hops really shine. Medium bodied, well balanced, and incredibly drinkable, I could session this brew all day long. This would pair incredibly well with smoked Gouda or salmon with grilled vegetables. Holy cow I can’t believe I got to try this one. This is my most sought after smoke beer.Where do I start? The nose is right there, you can’t help inhaling this for a while.Lots of smoke here like a campfire, but not overpowering. There also was smoked meat and pork rinds there too.Damn i am getting hungry.Poured a nice brown slightly translucent color with a small lacing head. Flavor was full on beef jerky, smoke and had a slight hop presence. The finish was smoky with some hops and dry.THANK YOU BRENT! PhillyBeer2112 (2089), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Hurray! Draught @ redlight. Deep chestnut hues. Modest foaming head. Beautiful campfire aroma, just heaps of burnt wood. First there’s a light ashy smoke flavor but caramels and melanoidins start to dance around it the deeper you sink in. I wonder what the base beer is, a dunkel? redlight (1487), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Smokey, metal, smoked meat. Pours cloudy amber with a thick fluffy white head. Smokey upfront, yet very hoppy, has a very bitter flavor, its very smooth, and very drinkable! i think i could live off this stuff for 40 days! I wish we could get this beer all the time!
