Commercial Description:
The Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer is an unfiltered smokebeer, brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Bottom-fermenting yeast gives the reddish brown lentbeer a natural cloudiness. Its smokey aroma is already noticeable in the smell, combined with a fine hoppy note. In the drink the fullbodied, highly drinkable lentbeer shows its strong malty flavour, rounded up with the smokey taste and a light bitterness. Due to the nourishing yeast, the Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer has the "Brotzeit already included" (German word for afternoon snack). Served / Sold: - Only during lent from Ash Wednesday to Easter - Only from the wooden keg at the Schlenkerla Data: Original Gravity: 14.5% Alcohol: 5.5% EBU: 32

Draft. A chestnut amber beer with a huge creamy tan head. The aroma is sweet and very smokey giving it notes of bacon, tar, and wood. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of smoke again giving it notes of bacon, wood, tar, but also caramel notes from the malt, leading to a dry smokey finish with a light bitterness. The flavor overpowers the aroma once you dig into the beer.Wow.

From tap at Ølbaren. Pours dark clear and golden amber with a huge and light tan head. Leathery smoked and roasted breadish malt aroma. Smoked bacon and salami flavoured with a subdued malty note. Dry and smoked solid base flavour with a light sweetness appearing towards the finish. Ends mild meaty and dry. Dry and bitter into the far finish.

On tap (at Rich O’s). Light garnet brown with a fine offwhite tan head, very slightly hazed. Campfire smoke, creamy with a light peppery hop profile. Light cherry maybe? Full creamy mouth while not overcarbonated at all. Some real substance. Sweet malty full bodied lager. Big campfire smoke, fruity with lightly cherry hinted overtones. Very creamy for a lager! Light cherry and a tiny bit of astringency in the finish leaves a very very clean flavor. What a beautiful beer.

Draft at Waterfront Manhattan. Pours a cloudy brown with medium head. That classic Schlenkerla smoky aroma. Taste is same with malts. Good.

Amber colored with minimal head. Aroma is phenolic and sweet. Tastes like bacon with light caramel curing, and a solid malt undertone. Fantastic.

Awesome aroma of a campfire, smoke, cherrywood, some brown sugar sweetness. The color is a beautiful ruby red, white head, medium carbonation. the flavor is full of smoke as well, with a small amount of malty sweetness, caramel, brown sugar, and the tiniest hint of grassiness, such as observed in a pilsener. The finish starts as smoke, as if you were too closee to a fire, but the segues into a mild but nice hop bitterness. Excellent beer. Unique and enjoyable.
