The aroma is sweet and very smokey giving it notes of bacon, tar, and wood. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of smoke again giving it notes of bacon, wood, tar, but also caramel notes from the malt, leading to a dry smokey finish with a light bitterness. The flavor overpowers the aroma once you dig into the beer.Wow. yespr (12414), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 15, 2009 On tap (at Rich O’s). Light garnet brown with a fine offwhite tan head, very slightly hazed. Campfire smoke, creamy with a light peppery hop profile. Light cherry maybe? Full creamy mouth while not overcarbonated at all. Some real substance. Sweet malty full bodied lager. Big campfire smoke, fruity with lightly cherry hinted overtones. Very creamy for a lager! Light cherry and a tiny bit of astringency in the finish leaves a very very clean flavor. What a beautiful beer. Maverick34 (729), New York, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Awesome aroma of a campfire, smoke, cherrywood, some brown sugar sweetness. The color is a beautiful ruby red, white head, medium carbonation. the flavor is full of smoke as well, with a small amount of malty sweetness, caramel, brown sugar, and the tiniest hint of grassiness, such as observed in a pilsener. The finish starts as smoke, as if you were too closee to a fire, but the segues into a mild but nice hop bitterness. Excellent beer. Unique and enjoyable.
