Meanwhile pouring, a nice, stiff, beige-coloured, head grows, which remains long.
Colour’s deep brown/mahogany, bubbleing is low-key.
The smell is smoky, mixed with some malty sweetness.
Taste is mild, the flavour is smoky, special, its body is pretty good, too.
Finish is light hoppy, dry and remains long.
A real special one, liked it! asheft (1391), Marburg, Germany

Potent smoked bacon aroma with some detectable noble hops. Clear dark garnet under a thin, bubbly off-white. Meaty smoke flavour is strong and in your face at first. Once the palate recalibrates itself there is plenty of sweet base malt flavour as well as a smidgen of noble hops. Moderately salty smoke transcends, though. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderate bitterness balances the sweetness well. KornDogg (187), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Bottle. Thanks to Miver. Dark brown body with medium tan head. Light smokey/bacon aroma. Flavor is well balanced between malts and smokiness, hints of bacon... medium body... great Rauchbier as you can taste the complexity, not an overwhelming smoke flavor like some are jesperhammer (290), Copenhagen, Denmark

Amber, beige lasting head.
Smokey nose. Not too much like the Weizen.
Creamy, medium carbonation. Somewhat like belgian dubbel with smoke. OK beer. nicaboy (11), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2009 The true bacon of beer. This has cured pork all around. There is also a bit of sardine or smoked herring going on in all the right ways. Really makes you want to fire up the grill and char some proteins. Color is slightly darker than most Marzens. the taste is heavy on the smoke, but the body is relatively light. Kind of throws you. Dont drink it super cold. Definitely improves as it warms a bit. The aftertaste is everything you love about a campfire and goes on forever. Really quite amazing. williamherbert (466), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Amazing smoky, slow-roasted meat aroma (pulled pork, smoked sausage). Mild, dark lager malt, but totally overshadowed. Appetizing, incredible aroma. Char-grilled fireplace.
Glassy red-brown. Thick, bu tlight does pass through. Head disappears fast. Not bud but not amazing.
Initially, it’s a dark lager on the front of the tongue, but the smoky flavor sits on the tongue long into the aftertaste. That aftertaste is intense and improves with warmth.
Feels smooth and milky; appropriate for style. More of a smoky black lager than a true Märzen to my taste. Tastes good, smells amazing. jzzbassman (845), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Pours deep ruby brown with a two finger dense head. Big smoky aroma with a lovely depth. Earthy and warm, with briny smokiness that just is a perfect autumn accompaniment. Miver (564), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Bottle. Poured brown in color with a reddish hue. Huge fluffy tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is very meaty, bacon, with some campfire smoke. Tastes is of pretty vibrant with smoke, bacon, wood. No other brewery for me has taken the rauchbier to quite this level. This is possibly my new favorite style. Very drinkable and fantastic.
