The smell almost brought to my knee’s with the over powering scent of smoke, kinda the way your clothes smell after a weekend of camping, it stabs you like a knife to the nose. The sharp smoky taste hits you the second you pour this brew into your mouth, this definitely is not a smooth beer you can slam back or drink more then one in a evening. It’s definitely a full bodied taste that’s not watered down. I guess for its style it’s good, but I don’t think I’m a fan of the style. My serving suggestion for this would be have it at breakfast with two eggs, hash browns and a side of toast ketchup is optional. Wegro (218), Fresno, California, USA

The real problem is that since it was more balanced and lighter than the urbock i was able to finish it off pretty quickly and then I got pretty upset when I didn’t have any more. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 29, 2009 It poured a dark liquid with some brown and reddish tones and a big foam that left a nice lacing on the side of the glass. The first sniff was heavy with smoke, burned wood, smoked ham and oil. The flavor was similar but weaker, although it lasted longer then the aroma. It tasted if smoke, smoked ham, meat broth and wood. If you want a smoked beer this is something to go for, but I felt it tasted a bit like a very old hunting cabin, dank and impregnated with smoke after years of use. zvikar (424), Tel-Aviv, Israel

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2009 This poured a dark dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma was basically nothing but smoke and dark roasted malts. Flavor was a little bit less overwhelming than aroma, but still mainly just deep dark smoke, and some maltyness in the after thought as well. Markys (64), Stockholm, Sweden

This is as close to a perfect beer as get. It has this perfect smoke aroma that dominates the beer aroma. The head is big, off white, eaven though it’s poured without carbon dioxide pressure. The taste is perfect blend with a big malty smoke taste. The body is so perfectly balanced with the small but god bitterness that makes this a beer that you could sit and drink for a whole day and still want more when you wake up the next day.
