Reminds me of BBQ and bacon. Very soft carbonation. Very long remaining aftertaste. curly (575), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottle pours a very dark brown with hardly any light visible through it. Has a near 2 inch tan head that builds over the top of the glass. Carnbonation bubbles form at the bottom of the glass for a good constant aroma, also slight lacing. Aroma is like opening a barbecue smoker with a big ham or pork roast in it. Taste is bitter and smoky with coffe and chocolate aftertaste but finishes clean. Initially the smoky taste is strong, but the taste buds seem to get used to it quickly. Good authentic brew. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Bottle. Poured a soda brown with a fizzy tan head. Man, this reminded me of smoked ham in the aroma and flavor so much that that is all I could get out of it. I imagine it would be great for cooking or marinating. Light body and of course smoke aftertaste. No mistaking this one as a smoked. Gabler (86), , New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 15, 2009 Poured black with a deep brown head. Great smokey aroma. Body was definitely full. I found the smoke to come on immediately but mellowed out tremendously as it washed down. Easier than the Urbock but not as intense. Smooth finish, great beer. I love this brewer. I didn’t know what I was ordering, So I kept thinking I was drinking bacon. Dark malty with a smoky tone. Very unique. dnoaksson (165), , Sweden
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Um. this is definitely one of the better smoked beers that I’ve had, not that I’ve had many...the smokiness is well-balanced and not over powering. a touch sweet. nice overall Sparky27 (1583), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours black that turns deep mahogany when held to the light. Moderate tan head leaves spotty lacing. The nose is smoked ham, light bacon and campfire. Taste is smoky charred wood, burnt sweet malt, smoked meat and light roasted coffee in the finish. Medium creamy mouth feel. Very good.
