Appearance: dark mahogany to brown color. Medium and beige head.
Aroma: smoky and toasty mainly. Reminiscences of wood, smoked meat, sodium, salt, charcoal, sausage and leather.
Flavor: the smoke touch fill the mouth, is intense and lasting. Meaty reminiscences like cow meat, sodium, cured meat, leather and bacon. Also, the roasted malts, wood and some of toasted hazelnuts.
Palate: medium body and low carbonation.
Remark: the most intense smoked beer that I’ve tasted (extremely smoky), maybe unique in your style but these style isn’t my favorite. KimJohansen (6806), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Pour is copper brown. Peaty meaty aroma. Flavor is lighter bodied than expected with a dry finish. Not as complex as I though this would be. Smoked is not my preference, especially in a beer like this where there is not much else going on. Not offputting, but a tad boring IMO, unless you are just a sucker for smoked and not much else. Personally, I tend to prefer the marriage of a porter or stout and smoked, or some other concoction along those lines. elihapa (1044), Honolulu, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours clear brown with a smallish head. Aroma of campfire smoke, toasted malt, and dried meat. Palate is medium-light, with soft carbonation. Finish is long, but clean. Flavors are well balanced, given that I was prepared for another smoked-meat bomb like Bieropholie’s Grand Chef. Yes, there was smoke, but by mid-palate it was complemented wonderfully with sweet chocolate and caramel malt. Really enjoyable, and dear I say, drinkable. This deserves the consistently solid rating it receives.
