Bottle. Aroma crazy with singed earth, smoldering firewood, smoked meats. Flavor smoky with sweet malt, some nuttiness. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a clear mahoghany brown with a small ring off off-white head. Aroma of smoke, smoked ham and smoked sausage. Flavor is more smokey and less meaty. Super tasty though! Just the right amount of smoke. Nice and drinkable. Yum!

500 mL bottle. pours a dark, crystal clear brown with very low carbonation (almost none) and a very small and quickly disappearing Coke-like head. Aroma is bacon, honey ham, baked beans, and smoke. Much more watery on the palate compared to the Urbock with less of a punch. Taste is actually fairly light with some sweet malt in there with the barbecue flavors. Smoked malt and campfire pervade throughout. Very little in the way of balancing hops. Fairly long aftertaste of smoke, bacon water, baked beans, and ham. Pretty interesting but I’m not sure if I would try it again. Perhaps my bottle is old since there is no carbonation whatsoever. But probably will stick to the Urbock nevertheless.

Appearance: Pours a chestnut brown body with a thin, thinning, bubbly white head. Smell: Bacon, though definitely top-quality bacon. You know me, I’m definitely down with the bacon. Taste: Sweetish, rich dark caramel maltiness prior to the smoked meat flavor hitting hard and fast. There’s some dark fruits present, but, again, you gotta look long and hard past those smoked malts. Thin vein of roastiness and even woody character throughout. Never much in the way of hops or substantial bitterness though. Oh, the ham. Oh, the sweet barbecue flavors. Finishes ultimately smoke with a mouthful of cub scout campfire ashes. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Drinkability: An enjoyable beer, a smoke-minded treat even, but not one I could down on a daily basis. Such a smokey, bacon-laden flavor and aroma that it might be even more recommended to friends of the Jewish persuasion. Paired well with some chicken pan fried noodles. The driver refused to partake in the beer once he smelled it.

Bottle. Looks and (belive it or not) tastes like a coke. But with a distinct smokey flavor and a choclaty after taste. Smoke dominates aroma aswell. This beer has a thin mouthfeel. It is easy and very enyoable to drink.

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a deep dark brown with a small reddish brown head. Aromas of liquid smoke, sardines, and firewood. Flavors of chocolate, espresso, and smoke. Nice dry crisp finish. Smokey aftertaste stays with you for awhile.

Bottle (500ml). Poured dark burnt copper with a good sized, dense, foamy, off-white head which lasted very well. Aroma very complex and intensely smoky with great notes of peat/wood, pancetta, salty smoked salmon, cabanossi and hints of toffee. Flavour was equally as complex with strong meat-like notes resembling salty double smoked ham, prosciutto, a good level of bitterness, light notes of caramel and some light dusty/chalky notes in the finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation, a dry/smoky mouthfeel and a fantastic finish. Amazingly well balanced.
