This amber ale poured with a decent tan head and an aroma like a brush fire. The flavor is unmistakeably charred wood with a substantial malt base. In spite of the smoke, this is actually an enjoyable drink, but not for mass consumption.

500 ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish-brown with a low tan head. Very smoky aroma with some dark malts. The flavor has plenty of smoke, cured wood and sweet dark malts, with pleasant bitterness.

This one really messed with my head. It just tastes plain weird in the beginning, but after a few sips you get used to it. At the end of the bottle, I actually liked it.
Appearance: Dark chestnut. Nice amount of head. Aroma: Smoked malt. Burnt wood. Taste: Really smokey. Malty. Burnt wood. Info: 500ml bottle, 22/2-2006, 80/300, 47/500

Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of barley, smoke and malt. Flavor is smokey bacon, meats, woods, and malt. Holy cow, I feel like i’m drinking smoked briskquet, yet this is very well done. Finish is mesquite smoked brisquet and mesquite. Very nice smoked beer.

Very dark brown beer with a small tan head. Aroma is deep smokey malt. Flavor is smoke, like fine smoked meat, wood, and malt. Finish is smokey and dry. Very nice smoked brew, though I like their Urbock more.

Aroma is sweetish smoked malts, tar and some wood. Smoked malts and tar in flavor. Quite dry and bitter finish.

Poured pitch black with a beige head. Aroma - hickory smoke and malt. The smoke clearly dominates this one. The nose is like when you come inside after standing around a campfire for a few hours. It’s way over the top. There is some dryness and bitterness and maybe even some roast malt hiding behind the smoke. Very unique, but not to my taste.

1/2 L bottle from Once Upon a Vine....but definately not my first. Pours a clear dark amber with almost no head. Aroma is straight from the smokehouse along with carmelized malts and some spicey hop aromas buried deep in the smoke. Carmelized malt flavors yeild to smokiness and the hop bitterness fights to catch up from behind. Finish is somewhat dry with a bit of residual hop bitterness and smoke flavors. Wonderful.
