Smoked meats, cedar chips over power some malts in the the aroma. Taste is initially smoked meats, caramel maliness that cuts into the smoke factor & leave a nice pleasnt lighter smoke flavor on your palate. Nice beer DuffManSW (287), Riverside, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Bottled.. Pours a chestnut brown with a thin white head that fades away... Aroma is beef jerky and doggie treats... Flavor I guess is well, smokey. Not overpowering in any way and very pleasant. Medium carbonation and thin to medium body. This beer would go great with some bacon and eggs. Ryan82SM (236), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Oct 10, 2009 First off, I should say that I really dig this bottle. Nifty old-school medicine bottle look that I imagine in a doctor’s cabinet 100 years ago. Heavy too, even after emptied (but what do the Germans make that’s not meant to last a lifetime?). Pours a deep brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is indeed of smoke; it dominates, like too much artificial smoke meat seasoning. Flavor is again with the liquid smoke meat marinade, and it tricks the mind into perceiving it as meat flavor. Gets a little less offensive after a few sips. Thick, chewy mouthfeel, bubbly finish. One thing’s for sure: There is no lack of flavor here. It’s just not my kind of flavor. I love meat, and I love big ass beers, but when you combine the two it just doesn’t work for me for some reason. This is one rare instance when I’d actually prefer less flavor - the woodchip/smoke/beef jerky flavor specifically. I wish I could like this more but I just can’t. I’ll still finish the bottle though; it’s better than no beer at all, so no-harm no-foul. Overall, fair. My apologies to the other RBian who recommended this for me :( jonno (562), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 8, 2009 This is how to make a smoked. Not too over the top, with nice woody and ham tones on the nose and palate. Easy drinking and very enjoyable. Pours a beautiful dark amber red too with good head retention. All in all very goo. kevd193213 (481), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA

Thin taste of bacon and campfire with a dry finish. Appreciate it, but not for me. Hermod (274), Vantaa, Finland
