| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Pours dark brown with amber hues and mostly receding light tan head. Aroma of smoked wood, oak, charcoal and campire. Taste is smokey, meats, sausage, and brown malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I enjoy this, but I still have trouble seeing the appeal of a smoked beer where smoke is the dominant characteristic of the beer. reddragon (28), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Bottle. Beautiful label. All I can say is MEAT. Rauchbier is a very interesting style, and you know what you are getting every time. Most people would hate it. Aecht is a delicious, full-bodied, medium color rauch. Better than Kaiserdom.
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2007 bottle; Aroma of a good smoked Gouda with the hickory taste of a dry rub barbecue. This beer is an exciting change of pace. About half way through the second one I become tired of the taste however. ako (153), Turku, Finland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2007 Deep dark brown. Smells smoky, just like old Finnish rye-bread. Flavor is equally smoky, tar, roasted malt and a slight bitterness in the end. Left something to be desired, but the Urbock answered those calls. This one is just a little too light, an excellent and most recommended brew though. kkarlo (12), Serbia
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2007 remember having had a Schlenkerla Rauchbier (not sure which type) some years ago and thought it was like drinking smoke .... this one however tastes rather like a light stout (good dryness) with some smoked ham addition .... I am having it with some black forest ham ... just a delicious pairing ... JB175 (1660), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Darker brown pour with a medium head. Smoky, campfire aroma with some meat and wood. Flavor is a woody-meaty mix that is nice and malty, but not quite as satisfying as the Urbock. Tingly and a bit sticky. Nice Rauch.
