Oct 3, 2009 Lots of smoke on the nose, and a lot of wood. Some bacon/meaty aroma in there as well. Slight caramel sweetness follows. The appearance is a very attractive ruby red/brown, clear, carbonation bubbles, thick off white head. The flavor is smoke, wood, smoked meats, tobacco, thinner than expected. The mouthfeel has an unexpectedly thin quality. The finish is campfire smoke, slight resiny hops. Enjoyable overall.

Sep 30, 2009 The best beer i have ever taste. My favorite beer of all time.500 ml bottle. Taste is of dark malts smoked flavors, and ends again with bacon.

Sep 29, 2009 Pours a reddish brown with thick white head. Not very frothy. The aroma is of smoke and tar. Some hops coming through. The taste is wonderful and strong. A start of smokiness finished off by a slight coffee-malt flavor. The body is medium-full. What a terrific beer!

Sep 25, 2009 A nice glass of Pig juice: Ive sampled this about six times over the last few years. Maybe my palates subdued but all I really get is salami and lots of woodiness from the smoked malt on wood process. Not something i’d wanna guzzel loads of in a session but a unique drink. I like Alaskan Smoked Porter way more.

Sep 24, 2009 A fantastic cherry red hue with a nice pearl head. Slightly frothy and lacy. Smokey & caramel malts. Hard to place though reminds me of the tonic I used to have as a kid. The smokey flavoring hits you right up front, followed nicely with a mild sweetness that trails behind. I taste a nice maple flavor and balanced with the hops that give it zip. The more I drink this beer the more I like it. Not something for everyday but still bloddy good.

Sep 20, 2009 has a smokey finish. not too thick for such a dark beer. pretty malty but not really that sweet. has a large frothy head. unique for a marzen but tastes really great. couldn’t drink too much of it though. i dont think the maltiness quite matches the carbonation. it should be a little thicker.
