If Long Limbs Lenore tasted more like this beer, Forrest would have never freaked out at Lt. Dan’s NewYear’sEve party. Some beers you need to pair with food, and that’s never been more true than with this one. DONT drink without some good quality sausage or jerky.

Pours a deep red/brown color, with creamy/bubbly head which leaves behind a creamy film. Very strong, smokey aroma, smells like beef jerky. Full bodied taste, with lots of malts, very dominated by smoke taste. The smoke flavor is so pungent in this beer that I found it hard to finish the whole thing, although and interesting and unique brew, I think a regular 350ml bottle would have been a more suitable amount. Good palate, perfect carbonation and mouthfeel. First smoke beer i’ve ever had, and I really enjoyed it.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Not as intensely smoky as I remembered, this is good! Reminds me of the smoked cheese you can get everywhere in Sweden, only better.. much better. The smokiness here is more complex and complemented very well by the malty sweetness. The only problem I have with this beer is that I can only get it pasteurized... Guess I’ll be heading for Bamberg sometime...

Bottle. Pours a dark amber to brown body with a one and a half finger ashy head, head is creamy white som bobbles in it. Aroma is smoke and smoked meat. Smokey taste and som last. The smoke is very intense and woody almost like an forestfire. The aftertaste is reminds me of how your clothes smell after you have been at an bonefire. Some bitternes in the aftertaste. Palate is mouthtfilling thick and creamy.

(Re-rate) Mostly chocolate with half a bag of Frazzles tipped in it. A bit smoky. Soft and creamy m/f. Delicious. (original rate- 3.6) Bottled, Piper’s End Beer Festival. Startlingly smoky, Viking Jorvik Centre nose, according to some of my samplers. This is really wrinkling a few nostrils. An ancient, waxy, bootpolishy, but above all, beechwoody smokiness. A definite hint of museum. Considering the nose, pours with a surprisingly clear red transparency. Still, flattish mouthfeel. Smoky but creamy, like Austian smoked cheese. Can’t help but think of smoked hams and Bratwurst. Massively evocative nose. The smokiness in the flavour is only marginally more assertive than in Black Cat or Cain’s Dark Mild. Got to try this with food next time. Completely unique, and wonderfully offensive to outsiders.

Dark brown pour with a small off white head. Strong woody campfire smoke aroma with just a tiny hint of brown sugar. More smoky wood flavor with just enough bitterness on the finish to balance out the smoke. Medium-thin body with average carbonation. Very flavorful yet surprisingly drinkable.

This beer gets points for uniqueness. Recusant campfire aroma emitted from a healthy dirty white head atop a deep and shiny brown-orange body. Flavor lingers on the palate for minutes. I suspect this beer would be great for cooking chilis and other bbq-esque dishes.

Bottle, picked up from The Little Beer Shop, Ludlow, Salop, 10-03-07. This was the first time that I’ve stumbled across a Rauchbier and now I’m hooked it was wonderful. The beer poured very dark brown and had a sublime smokey and woody aroma. The taste was equally wonderful with an intense smokiness, almost kipper like and gentle bitterness, very quaffable and fascinating for me to try a style such as this. Loved it
