It has a very strong aroma of smoke about it and a very smooth smoky initial flavor that builds to an even stronger smoky finish. I rather liked it. The smoke was not too more for me as it was for some. Grovlam (3825), Copenhagen, Denmark

A strong, sweetish aroma of smoked ham and hops. Sweetish, strong, smoked-malt flavor. Medium-bodied, somewhat carbonated, but very smooth palate. Oily, smoky finish. Maybe slightly sweeter and easier to drink than the Urbock, but pretty much lighter in body. At its best when only slightly chilled, IMHO. A top-class smoked beer. Braudog (3782), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Bottle. This poured a dark, yet apparently light-bodied ruddy brown, with a solid frothy head. That wonderful fireplace-residing Aecht smokiness wafts towards my nasal passages from the first instant. A fully smoky component is integral to this brew, but not in a way that makes you feel like you’re licking an ashtray ... it’s more subtley imbued into the drink. Like all of these Bamberger classics, this makes me yearn for a solid block of smooth cheese, or perhaps even a nice cigar. (#3327, 2/17/2008) Dedollewaitor (3773), Odense, Denmark

my heart & taste budds!
Rerate July 09. Well if there was a beer I needed to rerate it was probably this. TAP @ Schlenkerla. Moderate smokey really since it was stone ice cold. Smooth palate with lots of flavor. Well combined I have to give it a couple of notches op. 2,7 - 3,3
Rerate: Ulfborg - Danish summer gatheing. Thanks Jan. It gets better and better. Fifth time Ive had this now. Complex, chewy malty. More and more use to the peat being upfront. 3,3 - 3,6 joss (3690), Garching b. München, Germany
