A huge smoke arom just like smoked oysters. If there is more on the nose it is covered to me by the smoke. A dark brown pour with hints of deep red as well. Smokey taste, a hint of sweetness, and a very light bitter. Smooth palate with food carbonation. A very good beer. Solid all round. Very smokey as it should be.

Bottled. Pours a deep ruby/amber color. Now this beer smells like real smoke, like barbeque or something. Smells like a mixture a meat, burning pine, and oysters. Strong smokey flavor dominates. It does seem to have quite a bit of a malty character as well. Bitter finish.

50 cl tap at the Brauerei Heller Bamberg. Pours dark brown with a thick white head. Aroma is smokey and roasted. Taste seemed to be a lot betetr than the bottled version I have had before. Malty, smokey, light roasted caramel notes, some dark fruits. Sweet. Very drinkable once you get used to the taste.

25 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with red highlights when held to a light. Moderate linen-white head that faded to a thick, creamy film and left partial lacing on the glass. The aroma is very nice with a strong but mellow fragrance of smoke along with a bit of earthiness. The flavor was equally pleasant with the smoke taking center stage, but not overpowering and not excessively sharp. There is also some malt flavor that comes through. Surprisingly smooth. Well done.

Deep amber in color with some orange highlights. Aroma: Alot of smoke, charred wood, smoked meats- pork, and some sweet caramel in the back as well as light notes of fruit. Taste is very smoky, with smoked ribs/sausage, wood, with some caramel malty sweetness and fruit. Finishes smoky and smooth.

Nice malty and bigitme smoked aroma,big creamy head,nice dark amber color.Flavor is big and well smoked lightly malty,medium sweet,kind of watery in the texture the after taste is smokey ,malty.i mean what more can you say about a rauchbier it smoked and delicious as hell.A good accompaniment for samon or shellfish ,but not a brew that you would drink in large quantity ,the flavor would get to you i believe.

bottle-sampled with JoeT and aceofhearts-Aroma is smoked meats-bacon comes to mind-deep ruby red appearance-white head around rim of glass. Medium palate. Flavor matches the aroma with some hops to match. Definately worth a try!

Bottle, at No. 5. Red with off white head. Aroma very smoky. Flavor first very smoky, then you almost forget it and like it. Then it’s sweet of smokemalt. Light body, watery, long duration.
