Strong aromas of tar, leather and salami. Dry, leathery finish. Medium bodied. Reminds me of a classic Swedish mosquito repellant. I´m surpriced I liked it this much. I guess it would be good with fried eggs and bacon. rudolf (1775), Buffalo, New York, USA

Nose is smoke, bacon, fish, woody. Deep ruby body, frothy off-white head. Quite (not overpoweringly) smoky, sweet malt, fish, light iodine. A bit of hop & caramel in the finish. The finish of this leaves me wanting more.. More.. MORE!!!! JCB (1773), Durham, North Carolina, USA

When you’re in the mood for a rauchbier (or as my wife calls it, a "meat beer") I’m not sure you can do much better than dial up this classic. Pours like a substantial brown ale, clear, impressively colored, with a fairly minimal head. But the aroma is just ka-pow! Deep in the pit, with the hog on the spit. It’s not meat beer in the abstract, but lovely wood smoked bbq. What’s nice is the high quality of the marzen at the heart of it all, with some hops battling through the strong smoked malts, and a very rich creamy body (much fuller than I remember). A delight. You can smell it when you first open the bottle. Head leaves quick. Color is a nice crimson. Medium bodied. Taste is very meaty and smokey. Nice aftertaste reminicent of good beef jerkey. Good with cheddar. sneagrams3 (1757), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Brownish hue and a quickly dissapating head. Good dose of smoke. This was more of a sugary, syrup smoke. Medium malt roast. Seemed less smoky than the weizen. Smooth malt flavors and mild hop finish.
