Aroma is smokey all the way in a beef jerky sense. Full bodied and chewy beer with a great bitter end. The smokeiness last through the whole experience. jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Darker brown pour with a medium head. Smoky, campfire aroma with some meat and wood. Flavor is a woody-meaty mix that is nice and malty, but not quite as satisfying as the Urbock. Tingly and a bit sticky. Nice Rauch. GG (1656), NorCal, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Like it’s brother the Urbock, this beer screams smoke from the top of its lungs. It’s incredible to smell, and while it might be a bit much for some people it head dead center for me. Truly, a rauchbier for rauchbier lovers. The bottle alone reminds you of some dark cool evening walking thru the German town of Bamberg, soaking in all the goodness that is there. The beer pours out a medium brown color, one finger thick off-white foamy head, which had some staying power. Held up to the light, you could see some garnet and a touch of brown. Aroma is smoke. Pure and simple. Campfire smoke, meat smoking over s grill, burning paper. Mouthfeel is creamy and smoooth. Flavor is more smoke, but its not overly done. Just right. Reminds me of a very well done smoked black forrest ham. Underneath it all are some sweet malts which really binds it all together and makes this beer really a treat to have. Outstanding beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 25, 2004 This is the oddest beer I have ever tried. Aroma was hickory and smoked sausages. Body was copper and gold. Wow, incredible....strange, but definitely incredible. A MUST TRY! Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Transparent cola like color. Huge bacon and smoke aroma, not much else detectable. Flavor much the same. Tons of smoke, tiny bit of backbone sweetness, but hard to get through all the smoke. Tad dissapointed as I really enjoyed the first brew I tried fronm these guys.
