| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Doesn’t smell like a beer, more like a whiskey. Lots of wood smoke. No evidence of peat smoking but more of a campfire aroma. First taste was of a sausage but that morphed into the flavor of a marshmallow that had been cooked over a campfire and dropped into the fire for a bit. Some raters noted beef jerky flavors and I have to agree, particularly in the finish. What a unique style of beer! This is probably not one that I will seek out in the future but it was a pleasant taste experience, and that is what this stuff is all about. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2004 Bottle: The color is a redish brown with plenty of sediment. Well carbonated with a thin line of head around the edge of the glass. The aroma is enticing. The woody, smoked, char smells all mingle in your nose and remind me of well cooked bacon. It goes down smooth with all the smokey flavor hitting in the aftertaste. Very tasty in small doses. Perhaps a smaller bottle would be a better idea. I imagine this would go exceptionally well with a ham dinner, or even BBQ. Different, but quite enjoyable. jkwalking05 (1501), Arlington, Texas, USA

Smokey/malty nose that says German lager. Smooth malty/smokey flavor. Full body lends itself to the smoke. Every time I have a beer made by these guys, I am impressed by how well it is made. Prost!
