Aroma is smoked dried sausage, smoked kielbasa, and your flannel shirt the night after being around the campfire. Taste is clean, smoky, caramel malt, with a little bitterness. Finishes dry and clean with some of the smokiness left behind. This is actually the first time I have been able to finish this beer because I really am not a fan of this style. The beer is very well made, but the smoke always seems to get to me. I paired this with a smoked Gouda to kind of balance the taste and it seems to work. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2003 Dark amber colored with a tan head. Aroma of smoky bacon and sausage as soon as you pop the top. Smoky flavor as well along with malt and a hoppy aftertaste. Medium bodied. Very enjoyable, but you can only have it once in a while. SamGamgee (1469), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 6, 2007 50cl bottle from systembolaget. Holy shit! smoke and more smoke as soon as you start pouring, and then a nice caramel malt underneath that a little bit on. Nice clear brown color with a small tan head. I’ve never encountered this before, and was a little shocked at the first sip, but halfway in, the smoke gave way to a very pleasing maltiness that is very well balanced. The combo of malt and smoke and wood is so different, yet beautiful. The body is medium and smooth and goes down perfectly. I dont think I could drink this every day, but it is an amazing beer in its own unique way. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

Pours deep mahogany brown w/ a full semi creamy froth. Aroma of smoked meat is strong. Reminds me of the morning after a campfire. That heavy smoked aroma is in your hair, clothes. Brings back memories. Medium nectar w/ soft residul effers. Flavors are surprisingly mellow w/ a defined smokey character. Mellow fruit w/ softly leathered jerkey and slight creamy vanilla garter. Surprisingly easy to palate after the big smokie nose. Just a pinch of bitterng on the finish. This one improves upon warming. I bought two bottles. I anticipated drinking only one of them. I drank one cold then the other made the hour trek home in a paper sack. It was so delicious I couldn’t resist. The temperature of bottle two was perfect. This brew rocks. It’s so easy to drink with perfect balance of flavor. It’s funny how an aroma will evoke such childhood memories. I highly recommend this brew. Pours a dark brown with a white head. Aroma of smoke, campfire smoke with a meatiness ... like a ham with a little oak as well. Roasted flavors smoke tar meat. A pig on a spit over the open fire. That’s exactly what this is. And I love it. Finishes with a roasted charred meat flavor. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2003 Brown to red in color, with a nice head that quickly disappears. The aroma is quite smoky. Barbequed pig, baked beans, a light campfire and a salt lick can easily be found in this. Probably about as smoky as I can handle. This just doesn't seem to be my style, but this was surprisingly drinkable. I'm quite glad I made myself drink this, and not just because it's a beer.
