My impression was smoke and smoke, sweet malt and a little bitterness. I had too many beers to taste before it, and I had it with strong smoked meats and sauerkraut, and I am sure that my palate was not able to do the beer justice. SaintMatty (1236), Tallinn, Estonia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2008 500ml Bottle- Brown in colour with red tinges. Roasted, smoky aroma. Malty and smoky taste with a hint of maple syrip sweetness and a nice roasted bitterness. Nice but a bit watery and the aftertaste lingers a bit too long for my liking so loses some marks in that respect. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2005 Bottled. It’s smoked sausages. Never known an aroma like it, and I rather liked it. The smokiness carries through in the flavour but (thankfully) in a measured way, has a nice malty bite to it. Almost a cheesy palate and aftertaste. On it’s own it’’s good, must buy more to try with food where it coudl be amazing. waolsen (1223), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2008 Maple pour with thin head. Great smoke, meat, charred wood aroma. Taste much the same. Very nice smoke beer. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 14, 2006 500ml. bottle. Dark copper with a small, but long lasting beige head. Aroma of wood smoke with some"meatiness" to it along with caramel malts and a touch of tobacco. Flavor was tons of smoke, but not as much as the Urbock or Weizen. Then again it could just be that I am getting more used to rauchbiers. Hints of bacon, molasses, wood and tobacco. If you told me two years ago I would be enjoying this beer I would have said you were crazy. Now I am becoming crazy for smoked beers. Ober (1211), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2008 A clear dark brown colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma is very smokey, at first I thought about smoked ham. There are some malts and hop in the back. The taste of smoked malt, There are bitters and sweets, The aftertaste is a little bittersweet. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 15, 2006 I just think it’s phenomenal what they can do with malts and whatever else went into this beer. It’s insane. Like chewing on a meat lovers pizza (minus the cheese and crust). Very very smoked.. like summer sausage actually.
